Middle School Coach
JOB SUMMARY
Reports to: Athletic Director

Summary: Provide coaching, guidance, and leadership for the particular sport.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Coach individual participants for the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
- Trains and informs staff and encourages professional growth.
- Plan and schedule a regular program of practice for the season.
- Work closely with the athletic director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests.
- The Athletic Director will communicate with the coach start date for practice along with the schedule.
- Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as needed.
- Maintain necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
- Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which the assigned sport is conducted, while students are present.
- Establish performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the specific sport.
- Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, while establishing and overseeing penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
- Support and encourage the philosophy of the Riceville Athletic Department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SPECIFICATIONS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS
Must be authorized to coach by the Iowa BOEE and meet the requirements in Iowa Code.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to actively participate in practices; have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS
May work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions. Practices will go until at least 5:00pm most nights. Will work for 35 days.
