Be a part of exciting developments with Industrial Technology at Atlantic High School. Atlantic High School seeks a progressive educator to provide instruction to high school students in multiple areas of Industrial Technology; to develop in each student an insight and understanding of industry and its place in our society; to discover and develop talents of students in the technical fields; to develop practical problem-solving skills related to the materials and processes of industry; to develop students' skills in the safe use of tools and machines; to prepare students with the technical skills needed to be successful.
Our district works closely with community business leaders. We have collaborated to create pre-apprenticeship programs. Our lab areas have up-to-date equipment along with a strong variety of resources (standard power tools, CNC Plasma cutter, 3D printer, laser engravers, etc.) Career Technical Education also has additional funding resources thanks to a very supportive District Foundation group. AHS's Industrial Technology department is a collaborative department with two full-time educators in addition to other Career Tech Educators.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Designs and adapts curricula for diverse students' interests and background
- Scaffolds skills and learning experiences appropriately to ensure all learners have access to sophisticated tasks
- Guides students to make connections between classroom learning and their own prior knowledge and experiences
- Coordinates quarterly expeditions throughout the school year to ensure that all students connect and apply their learning to real-world STEM experiences
- Treats all students fairly and equitably; interacts effectively with students, co-workers, parents, and community
