The 7-12 Special Education Teacher provides individualized instruction and support to students in grades 7-12. This position collaborates with general education teachers, families, and support staff to develop and implement instructional programs that help students achieve academic, behavioral, social, and emotional success.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Provide direct instruction to students in individual, small group, and classroom settings.
- Adapt curriculum, assignments, and assessments to meet diverse student needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and accommodations within the classroom.
- Maintain accurate student records, progress monitoring data, and documentation required for compliance.
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and parent conferences.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and behavioral interventions.
- Support students with academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and transition needs.
- Assist students in developing independent living, self-advocacy, and post-secondary readiness skills.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and structured learning environment.
- Supervise paraprofessionals and coordinate instructional support as needed.
- Collaborate with counselors, administrators, AEA staff, and related service providers.
- Participate in professional development and district initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
