5th Grade Social Studies Teacher - Mid-Year Opportunity

Position Overview Sioux Center Intermediate School is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and student-centered 5th Grade Social Studies Teacher to join our team for the second semester of the school year.

To ensure a smooth transition for our students and curriculum, our ideal candidate will be available to collaborate directly with the outgoing teacher, familiarize yourself with our classroom routines, and build relationships with students and staff before taking over full-time responsibilities on January 11th.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
• Iowa Teaching License with appropriate Elementary/5-8 Education endorsement (Social Studies endorsement preferred)
• Mandatory Reporter: Child Abuse

Responsibilities

• Planning and deliver engaging, standards-aligned Social Studies lessons tailored to 5th grade students.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Assess student progress, adapt instruction to meet diverse needs, and maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
• Participate actively in grade-level meetings, school-wide initiatives, and professional development.
• Collaborate with 5th grade team during transition window to map out second-semester curriculum goals seamlessly.

 Desired Skills and Abilities

• Strong understanding of upper-elementary curriculum standards and student development.
• Effectively classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to begin full-time duties on January 11th.
