Direct Care Worker – Teaching Family Homes
Marquette, Michigan
Full-Time | Starting at $18/hour
Teaching Family Homes is a 24/7 residential facility dedicated to providing care, stability, and guidance to youth placed with us due to abuse/neglect, mental health rehabilitation needs, and juvenile justice involvement. We currently operate two group homes in Marquette and one in Newberry, each serving up to six children at a time. We are looking for compassionate, reliable Direct Care Workers to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of the youth we serve.

About The Role
A typical day for a Direct Care Worker resembles the rhythm of a structured household. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting youth with morning routines
- Preparing and serving meals
- Passing medications
- Supporting chores and life-skills development
- Helping youth with schoolwork or online schooling
- Supervising recreation time and activities
- Attending appointments and family meetings
- Facilitating evening routines and bedtime
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday
- 7am–3pm
- 3pm–11pm
- Starting at $18/hour (non-negotiable unless candidate has prior Child Caring Institution experience)
- Annual raises may be awarded after successful completion of yearly evaluations
Our training is thorough and essential to our mission:
- Paid two-week training (typically Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm)
- Flexibility available for students or those with scheduling conflicts
- All employees must complete 16 hours of training before working with youth
- 50 hours of training required within the first year

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Direct care work experience, knowledge and experience with the Teaching Family Homes Model preferred.
- Be of good moral character.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Adequate vehicle insurance if using own vehicle in the course of employment
- Background checks required.
