What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Floor Optimizer position at TE Connectivity?
The Shop Floor Optimizer owns daily order release and short-term sequencing, ensuring production orders flow smoothly from planning into execution. This role operates at the operational horizon (daily/shift-level focus), releasing orders, preparing packets, and coordinating with shop floor teams to enable on time completion. The Shop Floor Optimizer is the last-mile owner, bridging the MPS with real-time plant realities (materials, labor, machine status).
- Review production orders and release them to the shop floor once clear to build, following the defined release process at the plant
- Prepare and distribute order packets (routing sheets, traveler documents, work instructions, and quality paperwork)
- Monitor shop floor progress and update SAP with the order status from release of the production order to parts going to stock
- Communicate with supervisors to ensure schedule attainment and resolve real-time disruptions
- Escalate shortages, delays, or bottlenecks to Planners and Buyers
- Support continuous improvement efforts to reduce delays, improve schedule adherence, and simplify release process
- Monitor and release available inventory not processed by daily batch runs
- Prior scheduling experience is not required — we’ll provide the training and support to help you succeed
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP or shop floor systems (SAP) is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to interact with shop floor teams and cross-functional partners
- Must be a hard worker, team player, and result-driven individual who wants to learn and grow
- Degree in supply chain, Operations, Manufacturing, or related field preferred
- Equivalent relevant experience in manufacturing, production control, materials management, or related areas will be considered in place of a degree

- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $53,800- $80,700 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
