TE Connectivity in Milpitas, CA is looking for a Quality Manager to provide QA leadership, technical quality support and recommendations for process/system improvements concentrating on TE Connectivity product manufacturing and quality department activities. Ensure the quality and conformance to specification of parts, components and finished devices. Provide applicable regulatory compliance support for the implementation/maintenance of an ISO quality system (ISO 9000, IATF 16949 and, 13485). Use excellent communication and influencing skills to gain consensus on priorities and resolution of quality issues. Establish operational objectives and assignments and delegate assignments to subordinate leaders. Objectives are reviewed by senior management to determine success of operation. Erroneous decisions will result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities. Regularly interact with management on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions and/or customers. Require the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance of, others in sensitive situations. Work with local management team members in developing long and short-term business goals and strategies. Assist in hiring and training for the QE staff. Manage people, which includes accountability for mentoring, developing and coaching staff on meeting/exceeding performance expectations and defined objectives, providing leadership to staff ensuring the prioritization of strategic and department level initiatives to include defining performance goals and targets, conducting performance reviews, and staff 1:1s to guide performance management and employee development efforts and manage toward departmental goals. Manage the budget allocated for the department. Identify & drive Quality System continuous improvement activities to increase business efficiencies. Responsible for quality monitoring and reporting includes performance scorecards, issues reporting and other performance measures. Define and drive a preventive production environment and culture that improves quality, yield, manufacturability and productivity, and work closely with cross functional teams. Facilitate and support R&D projects from development through validation. Coordinate and host all customer, regulatory and registrar audits on behalf of the site and assume responsibility for ensuring corrective actions meet customer and company expectations. Responsible for leading and executing Supplier development and quality programs.

Requirements: Master's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or closely related field (or foreign equivalent), plus 3 years of experience in the job offered, or in a related occupation.

Special Requirements: Requires 3 years of experience with the following:
  1. Navigating ISO 9000, IATF 16949, ISO 13485, ISO 14971 and FDA manufacturing systems and regulations.
  2. Supplier Management.
  3. Quality engineering toolkit including advanced understanding and application of statistics, sampling plans, data analysis, non-conformance management, DOE (Design of Experiment), GR&R (Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility), verification, validation, SPC, control plans, risk management, CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action), root cause analysis and tools (to include fishbone/Ishikawa diagrams, 8D problem-solving process and DMAIC - Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control).
  4. Application of lean manufacturing and six sigma tools and processes.
  5. Project Management (scope, resources, cost, risk and communication).
  6. Transfer of manufacturing processes from small scale development to large scale commercial manufacturing.
  7. Computer applications: Minitab, MS Office, MS Project and MS Visio.
