Role Summary
We are looking for an energetic and motivated individual to join our growing organization in a newly created position as our Controller. The Controller will report to the CFO and will play an integral role within the management team. This is an exceptional opportunity for assistant controllers and senior accountants ready to take their career to the next level and thrive under the close mentorship of our CFO. This role is ideal for someone who can operate tactically and strategically while leading our accounting team. Candidates must possess strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Additionally, they must demonstrate advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Financial Reporting activity for a multi-entity corporation.
- Manage all aspects of month-end and year-end financial close processes and procedures.
- Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and financial KPI’s.
- Report on weekly/monthly company cash flow.
- Analyze costs and generate ad-hoc reports when needed to provide support and service to our internal and external customers.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement key accounting policies and procedures, as well as technology solutions, to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Collaborate with business partners on large-scale projects to improve the flow of business, such as inventory control and expense management.
- Coordinate annual budgeting process via cross-departmental collaboration.
- Lead annual external audit process for the business.
- Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team to ensure that the financial, accounting, and reporting needs are met to support the management team in achieving the company’s goals and objectives.
- Mentor and develop staff to build technical and analytical capabilities.
- Serve as a financial advisor to management, supporting sound decision-making with data-driven insights.
- Partner with the CFO and other leaders on short and long-term capital planning, including identifying and evaluating financial return on investment of all new capital expenditure proposals.
- Assist in the design, development, and implementation of strong financial control processes to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records, minimization of business risk, and proper stewardship of all company assets.
Required Qualifications
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate cross-departmentally.
- Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and effective time management.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Must be willing to promote a culture of continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and tools.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, dynamic work environment.
- Previous experience with GAAP and prior working experience in manufacturing or distribution industries.
- Full-cycle accounting, inventory management, and multi-entity consolidation experience.
- Strong ERP experience, with preference given to candidates with new ERP implementation experience.
- Advanced experience with all standard Microsoft Office products; Tableau experience is a plus.
- 3 years of leadership experience, including training, managing, and coaching small onsite teams.
