JOB DESCRIPTION:


We are seeking a talented Sr Embedded Systems Engineer to design and develop embedded systems for advanced smart IoT devices. In this role, you will integrate algorithms, optimize system performance across memory and processing constraints, and ensure low-latency operation. You will work on embedded firmware, sensor integration, and IoT connectivity to deliver efficient, reliable, and intelligent solutions.


  • Develop and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller-based smart devices.
  • Integrate algorithms for sensing, control, signal processing, or device intelligence into firmware.
  • Optimize code for memory footprint, processing efficiency, and latency-sensitive operations.
  • Implement and maintain device drivers, communication stacks, and real-time features within constrained embedded environments.
  • Integrate sensors and perform data acquisition, calibration, filtering, and basic sensor-fusion tasks.
  • Develop IoT connectivity features using BLE, Wi-Fi, MQTT, Zigbee, or similar protocols.
  • Conduct system-level debugging, performance profiling, and optimization to meet real-time and low-power requirements.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, QA, and product teams to ensure effective hardware–software integration.
  • Review schematics and hardware designs to ensure compatibility with embedded system requirements.
  • Prepare documentation for algorithms, firmware architecture, design decisions, and testing procedures.
  • Stay current with emerging embedded development techniques, optimization strategies, and smart-device technologies.



QUALIFICATIONS:


The successful candidate for this position must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. The qualifications and working conditions listed below are representative of those required for the position.


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience in embedded systems development.
  • Proficient in C/C with experience developing firmware for resource-constrained systems.
  • Experience integrating algorithms on embedded platforms and optimizing them for memory, speed, and latency.
  • Strong understanding of microcontrollers, embedded peripherals, and sensor interfaces.
  • Strong experience with embedded serial protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, I3C, CAN, USB, I2S, and PDM.
  • Familiarity with IoT and wireless communication protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, MQTT, Zigbee, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or ThreadX and embedded toolchains.
  • Experience using hardware-debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD for firmware, including use of scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation, testing, and debugging.
  • Solid ability to troubleshoot complex hardware/software interactions and performance bottlenecks.
  • Proficiency with version control tools such as Git for collaborative firmware development.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks, CI/CD or automated testing for firmware
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Hands on experience with smart devices or IoT products is a plus.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with OTA firmware updates and security in embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of Python or embedded scripting for test automation.
  • Experience in machine learning on edge devices or AI integration.



COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:


TDK U.S.A. offers a competitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, 401(k), pension, life insurance, vacation, and 13 paid holidays.


This is a Hybrid position. The starting annual base pay for this role is between 125,000 and 160,000 USD. The actual compensation package offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: geographic location, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
