The Building Technician supports the safe and reliable operation of building systems at Bush Intercontinental Airport. This role performs routine maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and general building systems during second shift operations. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and able to work in a secure, federally regulated environment.

Essential Duties
Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and building systems
Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and equipment issues under direction of senior technicians
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with schedules and procedures
Perform general building maintenance including lighting, filters, belts, lubrication, and minor repairs
Respond to service requests and operational issues during second shift
Maintain accurate work order documentation using a CMMS
Follow all safety procedures, airport regulations, and federal compliance requirements
Maintain a clean and organized work area and mechanical spaces
Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and airport personnel
Minimum Requirements
1 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities, or mechanical systems (commercial or industrial preferred)
Mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of HVAC, pumps, motors, and related equipment
Ability to use basic hand and power tools
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
Must be able to pass a Federal background check and obtain airport security clearance (badge)
Technical training or trade school coursework (HVAC, mechanical, or facilities)
Experience working in airports, government facilities, or secure environments
- EPA 608 Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other facility environments
Ability to wear required PPE
