Job Summary :
The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems within commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities. This role ensures that all electrical work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards to support continuous building operations.

Essential Duties:
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components within facilities (lighting, power distribution, control panels, HVAC controls, motors, etc.).
  • Inspect electrical systems, wiring, and fixtures for compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate causes of breakdowns and correct problems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
  • Collaborate with HVAC, plumbing, and other maintenance personnel to support overall facility operations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, parts used, and inspection results.
  • Ensure safe work practices and adherence to company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating electrical upgrades and projects.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License
  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship program preferred.
  • 3 years of electrical experience in a commercial, institutional, or industrial facility environment.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, building codes, and electrical safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Proficient with electrical test equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
