Role Description This full-time, on-site Diesel Technician role is based in Dulles, VA. The Diesel Technician will inspect, diagnose, and repair a variety of ground support equipment and diesel-powered vehicles, including engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and braking systems. Daily responsibilities include performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, conducting preventive maintenance inspections, identifying and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and completing work orders and service documentation accurately. The technician will collaborate with the maintenance team to prioritize repairs, ensure equipment safety and compliance, maintain a clean and organized work area, and follow all company and airport safety procedures. The role may also involve occasional interaction with internal and external customers to provide updates on equipment status and support operational needs.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience in Vehicle Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair of diesel engines, heavy equipment, or fleet vehicles.
- Proficiency in Preventive Maintenance practices, including scheduled inspections, servicing, and safety checks.
- Demonstrated ability in Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems using diagnostic tools and technical documentation.
- Customer Service mindset with the ability to communicate clearly, provide status updates, and support operational teams in a professional manner.
- Relevant technical training or certification in diesel technology, automotive, or heavy equipment repair (or equivalent experience).
- Basic computer skills to complete digital work orders, review manuals, and track maintenance records.
- Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced airport environment, including standing, lifting, and working in varying weather conditions.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe use of tools and equipment; OSHA or similar safety training is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; ability to obtain airport security clearance as required.
