Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Signature School Implementation Lead to lead the design and implementation planning for Des Moines Public Schools’ specialized Signature School models. Work with district leaders, principals, instructional staff, HR, and TCI to convert the District’s vision into actionable school-launch plans.
Responsibilities
Facilitate district and school planning sessions.
Develop implementation plans, timelines, decision points, and risk controls.
Guide development of staffing models, certification requirements, and hiring timelines.
Support creation of campus master schedules.
Coordinate curriculum, staffing, scheduling, and professional-development approval cycles.
Contribute case studies, references, and proposal materials.
Provide implementation support during Year 0 and the launch year.
Required qualifications
Senior K–12 leadership experience, preferably as an assistant superintendent, curriculum director, magnet/signature-school director, innovation officer, or school-launch principal.
Direct experience opening, converting, or substantially redesigning specialized public schools.
Experience with district-level planning, stakeholder facilitation, staffing, scheduling, and implementation.
At least two strong relevant projects; three preferred.
Permission to use prior projects as case studies and professional references.
Preferred
Master’s, Ed.D., or Ph.D. in educational leadership or a related field.
Experience with magnet, STEM, arts, Montessori, dual-language, CTE, or competency-based schools.
Iowa or Midwestern district experience.
Compensation is commensurate with qualifications, experience, anticipated workload, and contract requirements. Contingent upon contract award.
Pay: From $60.00 per hour
