What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Technician position at TCI Powder Coatings?

The Quality Assurance Technician reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and has accountability of internal and external quality standards related to ISO 9001 compliance. This includes ensuring compliance to existing ISO procedures as well as TCI procedures to support TCI’s Quality Program and exceeding customer satisfaction. The position is the primary point of contact with other internal functions (Production, QC, Supply Chain, R&D) for Manufacturing data, documentation, and quality-related technical support.


Responsibilities

Perform post-batch activities in a timely manner, efficiently, and with accuracy for the respectively assigned manufacturing site, including but not limited to the following:

  • Ensure all manufacturing documentation is filled out as required, manufacturing packet is complete, and expediently addressing gaps in data and/or documentation when they arise during post-batch review process.
  • Review of manufacturing data/settings for potential issues and enter manufacturing data into corresponding spreadsheets and/or databases. Where discrepancies are noted, notify management through the appropriate channels.
  • Scan and index manufacturing packet and records into company document database.
  • Update Process Record Templates for each product on specified lines based on post-batch review of completed batches, if applicable to the assigned manufacturing site.
  • End production orders (batch runs) in company ERP system and notify internal teams to address any discrepancies in the ERP system preventing production orders from being “Ended” in the system.


Lead and conduct objective root cause analysis for internal quality issues as they relate to Manufacturing data and/or documentation


Ensure compliance with all training, procedures, record keeping, and documentation requirements supporting TCI’s Quality Management System.


Provide on-site technical and Quality assistance to internal departments.


Prepare communications, reports, and give technical presentations, as required.


Ensure and maintain a safe working environment for all employees.


Support and/or cover QA team responsibilities during team member absences to ensure process continuity.


Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with data entry, management, and analysis.
  • Critical thinking - ability to solve problems quickly while looking at all possible variables - knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies, such as 5 whys, Ishikawa fishbone, taproot, FMEA, etc., is a plus.
  • Ability to follow instructions, deliver results, meet deadlines, and work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Must have excellent organizational time management skills.
  • Must have sense of urgency to complete tasks on-time, occasionally while working with short deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and effective communication with work contacts, such as peers, supervisor, and other departments.
  • Ability to comply to required housekeeping and safety expectations.
  • Ability to ensure complete compliance with all company policies and procedures related to the ISO program. 
  • PC Requirements: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), great computer skills with ability to learn new software applications quickly. Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is a plus.


Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Degree (or GED) and 2 years of relevant work experience in data analysis and/or management.
  • Non-Degreed: 3 years of relevant experience in data analysis and/or management. Paint, manufacturing, and/or Quality experience is preferred. ISO or QA Experience is a plus.
