Material Handler - Industrial Distribution and Manufacturing

We are looking for a dedicated Material Handler to become an essential part of our industrial and metal hose distribution and manufacturing company. As a vital member of our production team, you will help maintain a seamless material flow throughout our facility, ensuring that our production, quality, and shipping departments operate smoothly and efficiently.

Position Overview

• Reports to: Production Manager
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Location: Cleveland, OH
• Pay Range: $18–22/hour (based on experience)
  
  

Primary Responsibilities

• Stage raw materials to meet production team requirements.
• Transport completed assemblies from production to quality inspection.
• Move quality-approved products to the shipping area.
• Load and unload trucks according to scheduled carrier times (FedEx, UPS, freight carriers).
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain clean and organized staging areas throughout the facility.
• Support monthly inventory counts.

Your Daily Schedule

• Start your day with safety checks and equipment inspections.
• Focus on staging materials for production in the morning.
• Coordinate scheduled carrier pickups and deliveries.
• Manage the flow of products through quality inspection.
• Ensure the shipping department has inspected products ready for dispatch.
• End your day with equipment maintenance and area organization.
  
  

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
• Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Basic computer skills for inventory tracking.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of warehouse or material handling experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems.
  
  

Performance Expectations

• Maintain 100% safety compliance.
• Achieve 100% loading accuracy.
• Keep staging areas organized and efficient.
• Maintain a damage rate below 0.5%.
• Ensure production flow with no material bottlenecks.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout an 8-hour shift
• Regularly lift and move materials up to 50 pounds
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment
• Work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures
• Wear required PPE (safety glasses, steel-toed boots, etc.)
