What are the responsibilities and job description for the Asst. Coach - Age Group position at TC Falcon Swim Club?
Salary Information: Salary will be commensurate with experience. There is also the opportunity to teach Learn-To-Swim and Development Private Lessons at a higher hourly rate, to increase your income.
Hours Required: Coaching Practice: Monday - Friday 4:00 - 6:30 or 7:30 pm and some Saturdays. Swim Meet coaching on weekends will be required 1 - 2 times a month.
Description: This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing, USA Swimming and US Masters Club Team and Learn to Swim program. The Assistant Age Group Coach collaborates with the Head Coach to develop and implement the training program to develop well rounded, competitive athletes.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Head Coach to develop strategies for practice times and structure, competitions, and all team related functions.
- Effectively communicates the needs of the Team to the Head Coach.
- Attend all practices, meets, team functions, and club related activities as set forth by the Head Coach
- Coach unless precluded by illness, or excused with prior permission
- Take daily attendance
- Attend regular staff meetings to discuss team development, schedule, current execution of training philosophy, recap of performance in competitions, etc.
- Become familiar with team administration and communication tool, PoolQ.
- Foster the physical, emotional & mental growth and building of relationships with athletes.
- Professionalism as it relates to communication with athletes/parents, attire, language, attitude, and punctuality
- Maintain a current understanding of USA Swimming & Southern California Swimming policies, rules, and regulations
- Communicate with and recruit new members to the club and inform the Head Coach of all interests
- Assist with scheduling of tryout or evaluation sessions for those interested in joining
- Assist the Head Coach with entering athletes into competitions
- Support and participate in team incentives and fundraising.
Requirements
- Candidates must be 18 years
- USA Swimming Coaching Certification - must be completed within 2 weeks of hire.
- Exhibit strong knowledge of the sport of swimming, including: practice structures, stroke instruction, drills and racing technique, national and international competition qualifications, and evaluation of athlete skill levels
- Previous coaching experience
- Strong Leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work well with staff and club members
- Stay current with all certifications identified by USA Swimming

- Our coaching style is highly interactive and unique to most programs. Coaches are expected to be involved and on their feet during their coaching hours. We expect coaches to constantly interact with their athletes, and be fully attentive. We support both in and out of water coaching and employ a low athlete to coach ratio.
- Ability to multi task and ensure that all athletes receive a complete training experience.
- Warm and enthusiastic rapport with parents, athletes, and staff, while understanding boundaries and diplomacy.
