The Opportunity
This role is part of TC Energy's New Engineer Training (NET) Program. The intention of the rotational training program is to provide broad exposure to TC Energy, get hands-on experience, and build a rewarding career. During the program, you'll have the opportunity to focus on building your technical competencies and soft skills through a formal training program. In addition, you'll build meaningful relationships through a network of experienced mentors. Rotational positions for EITs will include teams within Technical and Operational Services (TOS), US Gas Projects (USGP), and Commercial Operations. Participants will rotate to a new team each year of the program to collect diverse experience and exposure. Candidates who enter this program must commit to a 3-year rotational program and have the mobility to travel to the field for site visits or relocate for term assignments.
Candidates will be selected to fill one of the following rotational positions for their first rotation.
The Facility Planning engineer works with internal commercial, marketing, and operations groups to determine and manage pipeline hydraulic capacity, provide operational support, and supports methods to increase system efficiency transporting natural gas on their various pipeline systems.
What You'll Do
Integrity Engineering Services (IES) is responsible for providing technical support to numerous Pipeline Integrity Programs and US Gas Operations. IES also provides oversight of field data collection during integrity related excavations, assists in response to pipeline incidents, and complete crossing reviews.

The GPMC Project Engineering team is responsible for providing technical support to the projects that are part of the yearly maintenance program developed by the USNG Business Unit. The Facilities team specializes in work done in existing compressor stations, meter stations & storage facilities, with exposure to all systems and equipment tied to its proper operations, e.g., compressors, turbines, heaters, filters, silencer, power and control systems, etc. In addition, they lean on external engineering service providers (ESP), which gives their project engineers substantial leadership experience.

The Facility Planning engineer works with internal commercial, marketing, and operations groups to determine and manage pipeline hydraulic capacity, provide operational support, and supports methods to increase system efficiency transporting natural gas on their various pipeline systems.
What You'll Do
- Use hydraulic modeling software (DNV Synergi Gas) to optimize, troubleshoot, and solve hydraulic capacity.
- Use tools like Pi, Power Bi, and SCADA to collect, analyze and display operational data.
- Use hydraulic pipeline simulation software to evaluate daily pipeline operation and efficiency and to determine daily, monthly and annual pipeline capacity to meet customer requests
- Use hydraulic pipeline simulation software to evaluate impacts on pipeline capacity and on customers
- Use hydraulic pipeline simulation software to design new pipelines and expansion capacity projects
- Coordinate with System Design, Operations Planning and Gas Control, Operations, and Engineering regarding growth design and incorporate changes as appropriate
- Other tasks as required

What You'll Do
- Assist engineers with development of safe excavation pressure memos
- Review and complete assessment of proposed pipeline crossings
- Complete QA/QC of field reports from integrity excavations
- Assist engineers providing decisions for pipeline repairs (RSTRENG, dent strain analysis, sleeves, leak repairs, composite reinforcements)
- Review and provide feedback on gas handling operations
- Support Operations and US Regulatory personnel with State PUC & PHMSA audits (49 CFR 192)

What You'll Do
- Responsible for the engineering work associated to maintenance projects in natural gas facilities, i.e., compressor stations, meter stations, storage fields, etc.
- Schedule internal and ESP resources to support assigned projects
- Manage project specific engineering contracts including periodic interface and oversight of hired Engineering Service Providers (ESPs)
- Schedule design reviews, ensure proper stakeholder engagement during the design process, and establish direction for the project overall design product
- Identify equipment design requirements and review equipment layouts and installation
- Trigger material procurement process for all items to be purchased by the Company
- Review project requisitions against company standards and specifications as applicable to project scope
- Provide technical support throughout construction activities, including site visits and timely RFI responses
- Coordinate efforts tied to project close out from an engineering perspective, i.e., redline review, as-building, equipment data gathering for the preventive maintenance system, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
- Excellent computer skills (solid understanding of Microsoft Office applications) and ability to learn new applications
- Knowledge on project management concepts, tools, and processes
- Previous experience, familiarity with natural gas pipelines
- Ability to apply engineering principles, codes, and standards to identify issues, recommend improvements, and implement solutions
- Proven analytical and critical thinking skills with a proactive approach to problem identification and resolution
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective business relationships to reach company objectives
- Demonstrated ability to succeed in a changing environment with sound decision making, judgment, and independent action is required in line with regulation, company policies and procedures, company values, and business objectives and targets.
- Self-motivated and results-driven with excellent time management skills
- Strong leadership skills with an aptitude for team building
- Willingness to travel for work assignments as required
- Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards, e.g., CFR 192, ASME B31.3 & B31.8, ASME BPVC Section VIII, etc.
- Some experience and/or a strong interest in reading/writing code (e.g., VBA, SQL, Python), data science/machine learning and OSI Pi based tools
- Demonstrated ability to initiate change and help others adapt to a continuously changing environment
