Job Summary

TC AutoWorks is looking for a dependable, organized, and customer-focused Service Writer / Automotive Service Advisor to join our team.

The Service Advisor is the primary connection between our customers and our technicians. This position is responsible for helping customers understand their vehicle’s needs, coordinating repairs with the shop, preparing estimates, maintaining communication throughout the repair process, and making sure each customer receives professional and honest service.

We are looking for someone who can become a trusted advisor to our customers—someone who communicates clearly, follows through on commitments, and helps customers make informed decisions about maintaining and repairing their vehicles.

Automotive knowledge is helpful, but strong communication, organization, customer service, and sales skills are equally important.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Greet customers professionally and determine their vehicle concerns and service needs.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, messages, and customer inquiries.
  • Schedule service appointments and help manage the daily shop schedule.
  • Create accurate repair orders and document customer concerns clearly for technicians.
  • Communicate with technicians regarding inspections, diagnoses, repair recommendations, and job progress.
  • Prepare estimates and explain recommended repairs and maintenance to customers in clear, understandable terms.
  • Obtain customer authorization before performing additional repairs.
  • Help customers prioritize repairs based on safety, reliability, maintenance needs, and budget.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers regarding repair status, costs, delays, and completion times.
  • Recommend appropriate maintenance and repair services based on technician findings and vehicle needs.
  • Order or coordinate parts as needed and communicate with vendors when appropriate.
  • Review completed repair orders for accuracy before customer checkout.
  • Explain completed repairs, warranties, and future service recommendations when customers pick up their vehicles.
  • Process customer payments and assist with other front-counter responsibilities.
  • Maintain accurate customer and vehicle records.
  • Follow up with customers when appropriate regarding declined repairs, future maintenance, or customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with technicians and management to keep vehicles moving efficiently through the shop.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional customer service area.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the day-to-day operation of TC AutoWorks.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • A friendly, professional, and confident personality.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple customers, vehicles, phone calls, and priorities at the same time.
  • Good computer and basic office skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with technicians, management, customers, and vendors.
  • A willingness to learn and continue developing automotive knowledge.
  • Good judgment and the ability to solve problems independently.
  • A dependable work history and strong work ethic.
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Previous automotive service-writing, automotive repair, parts, sales, or customer-service experience is preferred, but we are willing to consider the right candidate who has strong people skills and is willing to learn.
