The Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for guiding borrowers through the mortgage loan process from initial consultation to closing. This role focuses on assessing borrower needs, evaluating financial eligibility, and recommending appropriate loan products while delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring full compliance with lending regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with prospective borrowers through referrals, networking, and lead generation activities.
- Conduct thorough borrower consultations to assess financial goals, explain available loan programs, and determine suitable mortgage options.
- Collect, review, and verify borrower documentation including income statements, credit reports, bank statements, tax returns, and employment information.
- Analyze applicant financial profiles to determine qualification, calculate debt-to-income ratios, and evaluate lending risk.
- Guide clients through the loan application process, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all submitted documents.
- Manage a pipeline of active loans, communicating frequently with borrowers regarding loan status, outstanding conditions, and timelines.
- Coordinate closely with processors, underwriters, appraisers, title companies, and real estate agents to ensure a smooth and timely loan approval and closing process.
- Stay current on mortgage products, interest rates, lending guidelines, and regulatory requirements to provide accurate information to clients.
- Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and company lending regulations, including RESPA, TILA, HMDA, and fair lending practices.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records within loan origination systems (LOS) and CRM platforms.
- Participate in sales activities such as community events, open houses, and partnership meetings to generate new business.
- Deliver high-quality customer service, effectively addressing borrower questions and maintaining strong client relationships throughout the loan lifecycle.
