1770 SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST PROF II (12 MONTH) |

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK |
|
Performs intermediate professional work in making diagnostic evaluations of individual pupils to determine disabilities including an assessment and interpretation of the student's intellectual, social, and emotional development; serves as a consultant to school personnel and parents in interpreting problems; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Coordinator of Special Education. |

This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires reaching, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for depth perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions. |

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES |

Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in the special education process for diagnostic and evaluative procedures; thorough knowledge of federal and state mandate and local procedures and regulations relating to special education program; excellent oral and written communications skills; skill in the use of computer equipment; ability to maintain effective working relationships with associates, parents, community agencies and the general public. |

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
|
Any combination of education and experience equivalent graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in psychology or related field. |
|
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS |
|
Possession of postgraduate license with school psychology endorsement. |
