School Based Virtual Facilitator

POSITION TITLE

2341 SCHOOL-BASED VIRTUAL LEARNING FACILITATOR                                                     

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK

Suffolk Public Schools seeks a School-Based Virtual Learning Classroom Facilitator that has a strong classroom presence, with the ability to manage a classroom (in-person) in order to foster a positive learning environment to set students up for success as they receive instruction using a virtual platform. The ideal facilitator will also be comfortable using a variety of technology platforms to support student learning.

This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS

• Establish strong classroom systems and procedures to maximize student learning time
• Set clear classroom rules and expectations so all students can thrive using a virtual platform 
• Manage student behavior in order to foster a positive learning environment
• Communicate regularly with the Virtual  Learning teacher to build a collaborative partnership 
• Serve as the liaison of grade input from the identified virtual program’s Canvas LMS to the district grading system
• Troubleshoot basic technology support as needed
• Manage updates to student enrollments
• Communicate with parents regarding student learning in the virtual classroom

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Employee of district, including access to district email address, gradebook, and SIS
• Completion of identified Training and Orientation
• Experience managing a classroom of students (preferred)

EQUIPMENT

Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and telephone.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (Travel)

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
