POSITION: School Social Worker
This position will serve both Ocean City Elementary School and Showell Elementary School and provide School Social Work Services for Worcester County Public School students, to prevent or remediate social emotional, and behavioral challenges as they relate to educational programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Collaborates with the Coordinator of School Health and the Supervisor of Special Education of a regular basis.
- Collaborates with community partners and agencies as it relates to student needs.
- Assists with the completion of functional behavior assessments on students demonstrating challenging behaviors.
- Completes assessments on students demonstrating developmentally inappropriate social emotional skills.
- Collaborates with teachers, support staff and administrators to design classroom and individualized intervention strategies to promote social-emotional competence for students.
- Supports teachers and models intervention strategies as needed throughout the implementation process.
- Participates in school-based emotional support/behavior planning.
- Pursues educational studies to maintain and grow professional levels of performance.
- Provides community outreach and collaboration to ensure families have knowledge of and access to available resources.
- Facilitates the collaboration of school and community agencies through case management and referrals.
- Conducts home visits and facilitates family involvement in intervention strategies and success planning for their student.
- Coordinates family events to promote social-emotional skills.
- Facilitates transition meetings as identified students graduate grade levels.
- Provides staff training in tier 3 evidence-based interventions and social-emotional development.
- Assists in development of IEPs, FBAs, and BIPs.
- Participates in IEP and 504 plan meetings as necessary.
- Assists with grant writing and goal implementation as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of School Health.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) or Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) required.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate in oral and written forms.
- Ability to handle emotionally charged situations.
- Possess a basic understanding of educational curriculum and the IEP process.
- Experience collaborating with community agencies in order to access available resources for families preferred.
DUTY YEAR AND SALARY:
This is a 198-day position. Salary is based on the appropriate teachers' scale.
