Description
Position pay: $17.50 per hour production bonus.
Work Schedule: Sunday - Thursday with the possibility of working some Friday's depending on orders for the holidays. Shift: 6 AM - 2 PM
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Farm crew members are to work for the Harvest Supervisor with harvesting and general maintenance of the farm. Work with the crew to accomplish tasks and deliver as fresh as possible product to the plant.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Have the product on the platform for the shortest time possible, have the product out of the water for the shortest time possible before delivery to cool storage, and monitor inventories in cool storage each morning.
- Check fluids in the truck at least twice a week. Help with stripping and other husbandry of seed in the nursery.
- Use the boats in a safe manner and check their maintenance as required. Assist with construction of new floats.
- Assist with other department crew in keeping worksite and surrounding beaches tidy and free of trash.
- Assist with construction and maintenance of nets. Assist with other farm work as requested by the Supervisors.
- Follow the tasks set forth by the supervisors and coordinate times and hours with them.
- Working safely in and out of the boats.
- May be required to work at other work sites/locations as needed
- May be required to do other tasks as needed
Qualifications
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must complete safety orientation prior to working on the beach.
Must be physically able to lift and handle sixty pounds.
MUST have clean driving record.
Must be able to speak and understand English.
Must wear proper safety gear when necessary.
Must work well with other crew members.
Must be able to swim.
Must have supply of gloves, boots and rain gear.
Must be capable of understanding and following instructions from Mussel Department Supervisors.
Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and various times of day and night.
Must be able to turn in his/her own time sheets with accurate numbers on them at the end of every two-week period.
Must pick up any garbage found around the facilities and never leave any of their own garbage around facilities.
Must maintain proper employee conduct including being aware and respectful of time of day, noise level, and the homeowners that surround the facilities.
