Purpose:
The Appraiser is responsible for evaluating and determining the fair market value of trucks, trailers, and other equipment for lending, acquisition, merger, and insurance-related purposes on behalf of Taylor & Martin. This role provides accurate, well-documented, and objective valuation reports that support financial institutions, corporate transactions, risk assessment, and insurance underwriting decisions. The Appraiser plays a key role in ensuring stakeholders have reliable asset information to support informed financial and operational decisions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect and evaluate vehicles, trailers, and equipment for condition, specifications, and marketability
- Research current market trends, comparable sales data, and industry resources to determine accurate fair market values
- Prepare detailed appraisal reports for use in lending, acquisitions, mergers, and insurance purposes, including photographs and supporting documentation
- Communicate appraisal findings clearly to internal teams, financial institutions, insurance partners, and other stakeholders as needed
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market conditions, equipment types, valuation methodologies, and industry standards
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and applicable appraisal and reporting standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
- High School Diploma
- Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in equipment and vehicle inspection methods.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong excel experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of the trucking and transportation industry preferred.
Working Conditions and Environment:
- Work performed in both office and outdoor environments, frequent travel to client locations.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions while inspecting equipment outdoors.
- May involve occasional extended hours.
- Physical ability to climb, bend, and lift moderate weights during inspections.
