Summary
The Fabrication Shop Foreman oversees daily operations of the fabrication department to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role supervises shop personnel, coordinates workflow, ensures adherence to specifications, and supports on-time delivery of customer orders. The Foreman serves as the primary link between management and shop employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Supervise and coordinate daily activities of fabrication personnel (welders, lasers, plasma, press brakes, Robot welders etc.)
· Assign and coordinate work to meet production schedules and delivery dates.
· Interpret blueprints, drawings, and job specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
· Monitor quality of work to ensure compliance with customer requirements and company standards.
· Estimate labor hours and review daily time tracking.
· Responsible for training, work assignments, performance feedback, and discipline in accordance with company policies for all fabrication shop employees.
· Enforce safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
· Coordinate with Estimating, Engineering, Primary Accounts Specialists, and Sales to resolve production issues.
· Track job progress and report status to Operations Manager.
· Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
· Assist with hands-on fabrication when needed.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
· High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training preferred.
· 5 years of fabrication or metal manufacturing experience.
· 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
· Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
· Knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIK, Stick), cutting, forming, and fabrication methods.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
· Effective communication and leadership abilities.
