Role Purpose
The Texas Sales Manager is a key leadership role responsible for driving the growth and profitability of Taylor product lines across the Texas market. You will lead, mentor, and structure a high-performing team of Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) to exceed sales and rental objectives while upholding our legacy of quality and corporate integrity.
Principal Accountabilities
Sales Leadership & Strategy
- Departmental Structure: Organize and optimize the Texas Direct Sales Department to maximize profit margins and sales/rental volumes.
- Strategic Planning: Partner with the Director of Sales to develop and execute long-range corporate objectives for the Texas territory.
- Forecasting: Guide RSMs in developing short- and intermediate-term sales plans that align with overarching company growth goals.
Team Development
- Talent Management: Select, mentor, and evaluate a team of Regional Sales Managers. You are responsible for fostering high morale and ensuring the best use of individual talent.
- Training & Mentorship: Design and implement training programs focused on aggressive sales techniques, market stimulation, and maintaining the TMW quality image.
- Management Excellence: Delegate authority effectively by teaching subordinates the principles of sound management and professional judgment.
Operational Excellence
- Market Intelligence: Collaborate on market research programs to identify new opportunities and measure the effectiveness of our market penetration.
- Process Improvement: Direct the creation and revision of departmental procedures to increase sales efficiency and asset utilization.
- Brand Ambassadorship: Maintain a positive public image for Taylor Machine Works and ensure a strong, collaborative rapport across the Taylor Group of Companies.
Qualifications:
Requirements
- Experience: 8 years of high-level sales experience, preferably within the material handling or heavy equipment industry.
- Leadership: Proven track record of managing sales teams and driving territory growth.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep competency in professional sales techniques and a thorough understanding of competitive equipment and material handling solutions.
- Travel: Ability to travel the Texas territory on a near-daily basis to support the team and engage with customers.
- Communication: Exceptional communication and presentation skills; must maintain a professional and "presentable" appearance as a face of the brand.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer systems and a high degree of attention to detail.
