Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable Tax Preparer to join our team beginning mid January, 2026. The ideal candidate will have experience in tax preparation and have a current tax class update certificate. A strong understanding of tax regulations and tax software is a must. Experience in accounting and customer service is preferred. This role involves preparing and filing tax returns for individuals and businesses, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations while providing exceptional service to our clients. This position is in Lenoir, NC. Please don't apply if you have a non-compete with another tax preparation company.
Duties
- Prepare and file federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws.
- Filing required, along with assembly, & organizing client tax folders.
- Utilize Drake software to manage client tax accounts and maintain accurate records.
- Provide guidance on tax-related inquiries, offering excellent customer service to clients throughout the filing process.
- Communicate with clients via digital upload, email, text, and phone to gather necessary documentation for tax preparation, ensuring all information is complete and accurate.
- Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and financial regulations to provide informed advice to clients.
- Assist in bookkeeping tasks as needed, maintaining organized financial records for clients.
Requirements
- Proven experience in tax preparation or related fields such as public accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Drake, QuickBooks, TurboTax, etc) and financial software tools.
- Knowledge and use of Excel spreadsheets.
- The ability to interpret financial data, w-2 forms, and other tax statements.
- Strong math skills is a must. Understanding how to calculate percentages.
- Able to use an adding machine, not a phone calculator.
- Basic office equipment operation knowledge, fax, scan, etc.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients. In-person and phone call service with client is a must.
- A background in bookkeeping is advantageous for this role.
