What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Maintenance Manager position at Tauzer Apiaries?
About Us:
Tauzer Apiaries has been serving California agriculture for over 50 years. As a family-run beekeeping business scaled five-fold by our second generation, we rely on a dedicated team to keep our operation running smoothly—from trucks and forklifts to buildings and field equipment. One of the quiet heroes of our success, our longtime mechanic and facility manager, is retiring—and we’re looking for someone to carry the torch.
The Role:
We’re seeking a reliable, hands-on Operations Maintenance Manager to oversee and execute maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of our vehicles, equipment, and facilities. You’ll be the go-to problem solver who ensures our fleet runs, our buildings function, and our team stays productive.
This is not a desk job. You’ll work side-by-side with our field team, diagnose problems on the fly, and take initiative to keep things moving forward—sometimes literally, with a tow rope and a screwdriver.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair a diverse fleet: trucks, forklifts, trailers, and agricultural equipment
- Manage preventative maintenance schedules
- Provide roadside assistance and equipment troubleshooting as needed
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialty repairs
- Maintain the functionality and safety of buildings, tools, and machinery
- Oversee shop organization, tools, and parts inventory
- Advise leadership on repair/replace decisions and capital purchases
- Mentor junior mechanics or assistants if needed
You Might Be a Fit If You:
- Are a jack-of-all-trades with deep mechanical experience (diesel preferred)
- Have experience with ag or construction equipment (or are willing to learn)
- Thrive in a role where no two days are the same
- Are self-directed and take pride in problem-solving
- Can lift, weld, tow, diagnose, and fix just about anything
- Value a family business culture where your contributions are noticed
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years experience in a mechanic or facilities role
- Diesel or fleet certification a plus
- Welding, electrical, and/or plumbing knowledge
- Clean driving record; Class A or B license a plus
- Bi-lingual Spanish-English
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary with annual performance review
- Health and retirement benefits
- Family-first workplace culture
- Leadership that values your judgment and initiative
- The opportunity to leave your mark on a long-standing business
Salary : $100,000
