What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief of Staff position at Taurus Search?
Our client is a premier, specialist M&A insurance broker who partners with private equity firms, corporate acquirers, and legal advisors to deliver bespoke insurance solutions that secure and facilitate complex corporate transactions. As they expand their presence and scale operations, they are seeking a highly organized, strategic, and execution-focused Chief of Staff - reporting to the President - to serve as a critical force-multiplier for their executive leadership.
Role Overview
This role will act as the primary strategic partner and right-hand to the President, bridging the gap between high-level executive vision and flawless execution. This is a high-impact, behind-the-scenes role designed for a professional who thrives on corporate dynamics, excels at navigating ambiguity, and takes immense pride in enabling leadership to succeed.
The ideal candidate will likely have a background coming from a top-tier strategy consultancy, followed by an in-house corporate career working directly alongside C-suite executives in financial services (ideally within insurance or M&A environments) leading complex, strategic projects. You will hit the ground running, translating executive priorities into actionable, cross-functional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
đŸ”¹Strategic Execution & Project Management
- Translate the President’s broad vision, business priorities, and strategic directives into concrete action plans, key performance indicators (KPIs), and rigorous follow-through.
- Independently spearhead critical cross-functional initiatives, transformation projects, and corporate development goals from conception to completion.
- Governance & Leadership: Design, structure, and manage the operating environment of the executive office, ensuring agendas are prioritized, briefing materials are prepared, and actions are tracked.
đŸ”¹ C-Suite Stakeholder Management & Influence
- Serve as a confidential sounding board and trusted partner to the President, operating with the utmost discretion while acting as a bridge to other senior leaders.
- Navigate complex corporate dynamics to align diverse internal teams, resolve bottlenecks, and drive progress across the business.
- Executive Communication: Deliver complex data and information into clear, high-impact communications, presentations, and reports for the President and external stakeholders.
đŸ”¹ Operational Excellence
- Act proactively to spot operational risks, anticipate the President's needs, and resolve issues before they escalate.
- Continuously evaluate and improve business management processes to increase organizational efficiency and executive focus.
Required Experience & Pedigree
- Previous experience within strategy consulting (developing elite structured thinking and project management skills), followed by transitioning in-house to work directly with C-suite executives.
- Significant expertise gained from working within financial services, with a strong preference for candidates with direct exposure to the insurance brokerage, underwriting, or M&A sectors.
- Deep experience gained within a COO office, Chief of Staff unit, Corporate Development, or Strategy environment, with a proven history of successfully owning and delivering high-stakes strategic projects.
Core Attributes & Competencies
- Completely comfortable operating behind the scenes to enable the wider team to succeed.
- The ability to rapidly grasp commercial priorities, assess complex trade-offs, and make sound, pragmatic business decisions.
- Highly resilient and energetic; a proactive "go-getter" who takes total ownership of outcomes in fast-paced, evolving environments.
- An intuitive ability to read the room, understand subtle corporate relationships, and manage senior stakeholder dynamics with tact and absolute confidence.
