Overview: This role serves as a pivotal lead within our organization, tasked with reviewing Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and preparing comprehensive electrical and instrumentation proposals. The position encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities across industrial, renewable, petrochemical, and refinery projects, involving meticulous review of specifications, quantity surveying, labor unit establishment, and vendor/subcontractor quote evaluation.
Responsibilities:
- Review RFQs and project documents to discern project specifics and requirements.
- Interpret engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
- Conduct detailed quantity take-offs against technical documentation.
- Identify potential project challenges and propose effective solutions.
- Provide timely clarifications during the tender process.
- Negotiate competitive rates with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Input cost data into proposal formats as per project requirements.
- Collaborate with other estimators, engineers, and project managers.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive cost estimating database.
Experience & Technical Competencies:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial electrical and instrumentation estimating.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with maintaining and utilizing cost estimating databases.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with engineering, procurement, and project control departments.
- Previous experience in preparing and submitting cost estimates to clients.
- Track record of maintaining and updating cost historical data.
Languages:
- Proficiency in English required.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus (not required).
