About The Role

The EHS Specialist develops, implements, and monitors safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment in a manufacturing setting. This role promotes occupational health and safety, reduces workplace hazards and injuries, ensures regulatory compliance (including OSHA standards), and fosters a strong safety culture among employees. The position plays a critical role in protecting workers, minimizing risks associated with machinery, chemicals, ergonomics, and production processes, and supporting continuous improvement in safety performance.

What You’ll Do

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments of manufacturing facilities, equipment, processes, and work practices to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and update safety policies, procedures, and programs tailored to manufacturing operations (e.g., lockout/tagout, machine guarding, hazard communication, confined space entry, PPE usage).
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, near-misses, and safety complaints; perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective/preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Design and deliver safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and contractors on topics such as hazard recognition, safe equipment operation, emergency response, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, audits, and compliance documentation; prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, and management teams to integrate safety considerations into new equipment installations, process changes, and facility modifications.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs through metrics (e.g., injury rates, incident trends) and recommend improvements to reduce risks and achieve safety goals.
  • Serve as a resource for employees on safety-related matters and promote safety awareness through campaigns, toolbox talks, and safety committee participation.
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and inventory of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety devices across the facility.
  • Stay current on evolving OSHA regulations, industry standards, and best practices in manufacturing safety.

Additional Expectation

  • Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Kingspan Group Compliance Policy.
  • Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations, and market demands.
  • Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of the Compliance Management System.
  • Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, or any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications/Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in safety roles, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards (e.g., 29 CFR 1910 General Industry), hazard communication (HazCom/GHS), and manufacturing-specific regulations.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification (or ability to obtain within first 6 months).
  • Certified Forklift, Aerial Lift, and/or Pallet Jack Trainer
  • NFPA 70E Trainer

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and common hazards (e.g., mechanical, chemical, ergonomic).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and investigation skills.
  • Effective communication and training/presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software/systems.
  • Ability to influence others and drive safety culture change.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Job Safety/Hazard Analysis

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • The role requires regular walking, standing, climbing stairs/ladders, and occasional lifting up to 25–50 lbs in a manufacturing plant setting.
  • Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions: noise, dust, fumes, varying temperatures, moving machinery, and chemicals (with appropriate PPE provided).
  • May require occasional travel to other facilities or training sites.
  • May be asked for schedule flexibility to accommodate a multi-shift operation as needed
