What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary School Counselor position at Tate Elementary School?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Designs and implements a comprehensive school counseling plan ensuring all students’ academic, social/emotional, and career development needs are addressed
- Provides individual, small group and large group counseling as directed by the comprehensive school counseling plan or to targeted individuals/groups as needed
- Conduct classroom guidance activities in collaboration with teachers and administrators
- Assist in assessments and student evaluation
- Assist/guide teachers and parents in the use of testing data for the identification of students with special needs or other educational planning
- Works with students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problems related to home and family, health and social/emotional adjustment
- Provides identification and referral service for students having home and family, health and social/emotional problems which are beyond the resources of the school
- Manage and respond to crisis situations
- Participate in student intervention team meetings (504, ELL, etc.)
- Prepare reports, records, lists and/or other required information or data as needed
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth by participating in professional development and other meetings as needed in accordance with District and Division of Elementary and Secondary Education guidelines
- Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates behavior that is conscientious and responsible
- Performs other duties as assigned by principal
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid AR teaching license (Counseling)
- Clean background check
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of relevant technology
Physical requirements*
- Be able to stand for the majority of the school day in order to effectively monitor and supervise students
- Be able to walk short distances to escort children between classrooms and activities
- Be able to sit, stand, lean, reach, bend, lift and squat to assist students as needed
- Be able to walk on uneven surfaces (playground)
- Be able to walk up and down stairs
- Be outside in all weather conditions for assigned duty (recess, before school drop offs, after school pick- ups and field trips)

Salary : $51,600 - $78,695
