Job Title: Plant Resident Engineer
Location: Southfield, MI
Duration: Full time
We are hiring a Plant Resident Engineer to support automotive electronics programs at customer R&D centers and production plants. In this role, you will act as the key technical liaison between the customer, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to ensure smooth product integration, validation, and successful launches.
Key Responsibilities:
Support deployment and integration of ECUs and system components at customer locations. Work closely with customers to analyze requirements, clarify specifications, and ensure alignment with project expectations. Perform system-level testing, assist in integration activities, and support defect analysis, tracking, and resolution. Ensure proper configuration of test vehicles, test benches, and software/hardware releases. Conduct joint validation activities with customers and provide regular status updates on defects and project progress. Coordinate with cross-functional teams including software, validation, and project leads to drive issue resolution and meet project milestones. Support production readiness and product launch activities at the plant.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with 3 years of experience in system testing or validation, preferably in the automotive domain. Strong understanding of ECUs, vehicle systems, and integration testing is required.
Skills:
Experience with defect tracking and test management tools, automotive diagnostic tools (CAN/UDS), requirement analysis, and configuration management. Knowledge of validation processes and analytical methodologies such as FMEA and FTA is preferred. Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer management skills with the ability to work in global, cross-functional teams.
