Job Title: Senior Composites Engineer
Location: Livonia, MI

Job Summary:
The Senior Composites Engineer will provide engineering and program management support for the Advanced Composites department. The role will ensure quality products are produced that meet or exceed customer expectations while ensuring program objectives are met within the budget and scope of the program. The role will support department leadership with quoting and estimating tasks while also coaching junior composite engineers. The Senior Composites Engineer will provide technical support to the production of quality composite products.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering and program management for multiple composite programs for multiple customers.
- Work with design team to provide detailed production specifications for composite products.
- Support more complex and challenging programs from inception to delivery.
- Develop work instructions, tooling plans, manufacturing aids and overall composite manufacturing process.
- Support sales efforts by providing quotes and estimates.
- Develop composite material solutions.
- Manage business aspects of multiple concurrent programs and ensure financial targets and timing are met while maintaining established quality standards.
- Manage, lead, train, coach, and mentor program team(s) related to their job responsibilities. Plan, schedule, and oversee project manager activities and monitor program(s) status.
- Managing all production logistic activities associated with materials, labor, budgeting, and production for assigned programs(s).
- Act as liaison with the customer and program staff to properly identify and process scope changes, address issues and communicate regarding program milestones. Actively maintain customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and quality of service. Actively maintain customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and quality of service.
- Develop and execute large program plans. Manage day-to-day build operations supporting department management. Manage the execution of continuous quality improvement activities.
- Collect data from customers, suppliers, Bill of Material, and other resources to prepare presentations and reports. Review program(s) status daily and report percentage of completion.
- Provide coaching and support for junior composite Engineers.
Key Must Have’s:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- 4 years of composite experience in an Automotive environment
- Ability to use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software systems.
- Knowledge of Lean principles, Six Sigma, 5S practices and of Quality Management Systems (QMS) standards.
- Knowledge of Aerospace quality requirements (AS9100).
- Knowledge of Project Management Professional (PMP) principles.
- Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) abilities.
- Knowledge of mechanical testing.
- Ability to work with automotive systems.
