Pay: $36.00 – $48.00 per hour (based on experience)

Location: Wheat Ridge, Colorado (Field & Office-Based)

Travel: Primarily local travel with occasional project-based travel

Reports To: Project Manager / Program Manager

The Role

The Environmental Field Scientist II / III is a mid-level environmental professional who provides technical leadership and field oversight for environmental investigation, remediation, environmental construction, and compliance projects.

This position serves as a lead technical resource for field teams and project managers, supporting complex environmental projects from planning through execution. The Environmental Field Scientist is responsible for managing field activities, interpreting environmental data, developing technical deliverables, overseeing contractors, and mentoring junior staff.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, and the confidence to independently manage project scope while maintaining Tasman's commitment to safety, quality, and client service.

What You'll Be Doing

Environmental Investigations & Remediation

• Lead environmental site assessments, investigations, and remediation activities
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee field sampling programs
• Conduct environmental sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, vapor, and other media
• Support remediation system evaluations, performance monitoring, and optimization efforts
• Conduct remediation feasibility studies and pilot testing activities
• Develop and maintain Conceptual Site Models (CSMs)
• Support aquifer characterization and hydrogeologic evaluations

Data Analysis & Technical Support

• Review, interpret, and analyze environmental and laboratory data
• Evaluate site conditions and develop technical recommendations
• Assist with remediation strategy development and corrective action planning
• Perform data validation and quality assurance reviews
• Identify project risks and opportunities for improved project performance

Reporting & Regulatory Compliance

• Prepare technical reports, work plans, corrective action plans, and regulatory deliverables
• Ensure project compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
• Support client communications regarding technical findings and project status
• Assist in agency coordination and regulatory response activities
• Maintain project documentation and technical records

Leadership & Project Support

• Lead and supervise on-site field activities
• Oversee subcontractors, consultants, and remediation contractors
• Mentor and train Environmental Field Scientists I and II
• Support Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, and execution
• Coordinate with engineers, geologists, construction personnel, and technical specialists
• Manage multiple priorities while ensuring quality project delivery

Safety & Quality

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture
• Ensure compliance with Tasman, client, and regulatory health and safety requirements
• Conduct field activities in accordance with approved work plans and safety procedures
• Participate in safety meetings, audits, and project reviews
• Utilize PPE and follow all site-specific safety requirements

What You Bring

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related field
• 5 years of environmental consulting, remediation, or oil & gas experience
• Demonstrated experience leading environmental field investigations and remediation projects
• Strong understanding of environmental sampling methodologies and data interpretation
• Experience preparing technical reports and regulatory documentation
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Ability to work independently and lead field activities
• Valid driver's license
• Authorization to work in the United States

Preferred

• Environmental remediation experience
• Oil & gas industry experience
• Experience working with state and federal regulatory agencies
• OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification
• GIS, CAD, or environmental data management experience
• Experience with groundwater treatment systems and remediation technologies
• Experience mentoring junior staff and leading project teams
• Professional certification or registration relevant to environmental consulting

Work Environment

This position operates in both office and field environments.

Field Conditions

• Exposure to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow
• Active remediation, construction, and industrial project sites
• Working around environmental sampling equipment and remediation systems
• Use of PPE and safety equipment
• Handling and documentation of environmental samples
• Work on uneven terrain and active job sites

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed
• Ability to perform outdoor field work throughout the year

Schedule

• Full-time
• Monday – Friday during normal business hours
• Occasional evenings, weekends, and overtime based on project requirements
• Flexibility required to support field schedules and client needs
