Taseko Mines is a dynamic international mining company, headquartered in Vancouver. Taseko owns (75%) and operates the state-of-the-art Gibraltar Mine in central British Columbia near Williams Lake. Gibraltar is the second largest open pit copper mine in Canada and has a 700-person workforce. We are looking for an enthusiastic student for a co-op work term who is interested in living in Williams Lake and looking to obtain a vast scope of HR work experience. The Human Resources department offers a variety of interesting assignments for student employees. Through your work term you could gain exposure in several key areas of the Human Resources profession, including Recruitment and Retention, Training, Health and Safety, Employee Benefits, and Labour Relations. The chosen student could start as early as May 2022, but alternative start dates may be considered. Preference would be for an 8-month work-term, however, for the right fit, shorter or longer terms can be discussed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Create an annual engagement survey for all employees in order to obtain valuable information for the Company’s ongoing recruitment and retention strategies. Maintain the documentation as needed and provide updates and recommendations throughout work-term.
- Assist in HR filing, with both hard copies and electronic systems.
- Assisting with collecting and storing approved photographs of the mine site to use on the Company’s social media platforms.
- Supporting various recruitment initiatives such as employee sign on paperwork, creating personnel files, conducting orientation presentations, and administering lockers where applicable.
- Other responsibilities and projects can be considered depending on the strengths and interests of the successful applicant.
Qualifications
- Individual must be self-motivated, computer literate, and must communicate well both written and orally.
- Experience with an industrial work environment would be a definite asset. Prior HR work experience is also an asset.
- Working towards a degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Canadian driver’s license.
