Job Description

TASC of Northwest Ohio is seeking a qualified Youth Peer Supporter to join our team as part of our collaboration with the Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS).

The Youth Peer Supporter will use lived experience with the juvenile justice system to engage, motivate, and mentor youth involved in or transitioning from DYS programs. This position focuses on helping youth build resilience, make positive life choices, and navigate community supports while promoting hope, self-determination, and accountability.

This is a full-time position with a small, focused caseload to ensure individualized attention and meaningful engagement with each youth participant.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.

Experience:

  • Lived experience with the juvenile or criminal justice system and the ability to demonstrate successful personal growth, stability, and community reintegration.
  • A minimum of one year since release or completion of justice involvement is preferred.
  • Experience providing mentorship, coaching, or youth support is strongly desired.

Certification:

  • Must hold or be willing to obtain Certified Peer Recovery Supporter status through OhioDBH.
  • Must demonstrate ongoing commitment to personal recovery and have no active criminal activity.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Driving record in accordance with agency standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to connect with youth through shared lived experience while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Initiative to collaborate with families, probation officers, schools, and community agencies to support successful reentry and life skill development.
  • Skills in advocacy, coaching, and crisis intervention.
