Physician Assistant

Position Title: Physician Assistant 

Department: Medical Department 

Reports To: Medical Director

POSITION SUMMARY 

Provides medical services to all patients facility-wide, as directed by the Medical Director. 

CATEGORIES OF DUTIES

 1. Performs physical examinations. 

2. Diagnoses, treats and prescribes medications under the supervision and written protocol of the Medical Director. 

3. Orders lab and diagnostic work in compliance with the Medical Director’s written protocol for the treatment of specific illnesses or diseases. 

4. Performs minor lacerations, as ordered and supervised by the Medical Director, according to his/her protocol. 

5. Able to identify possible infections, report, and document as appropriate; initiate standard precautions if needed. 

6. Administers waived tests (urine pregnancy test, blood glucose test, breath alcohol test, UA drug screen, hemoglobin [HbA1c], COVID 19 and flu A B tests, and fentanyl urine screen) and maintains annual waived testing requirements/trainings. 7. Other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION 

Completion of a professional physician assistant course at an accredited college and certification and licensing by the State of California Board of Medical Examiners as a Physician Assistant – PAC. 

EXPERIENCE 

One (1) consecutive year of experience in a medical and/or psychiatric facility with experience in the care of the chemically dependent.
