Machine Operator - 1st Shift

POSITION TITLE: Machine Operator 

REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor

STATUS: Full Time Hourly Position

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

The Machine Operator at Tarter is responsible for operating various machinery in a safe and precise manner, strictly adhering to process specifications. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with safety regulations. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Includes the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by management, and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at each specific Tarter site):

• Load steel into the uncoiler, ensuring proper positioning and alignment.
• Operate machinery such as benders, welders, and seamers, following prescribed procedures to meet production goals. 
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machinery, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
• Inspect parts produced by the machinery, comparing them to established standards to verify quality and accuracy.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area according to the 5S system, promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
• Other duties may be documented and assigned by management, and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at each specific Tarter site.

 SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficiency in basic mathematics and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50lb.
• Strict adherence to proper personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the production area.
• Basic computer knowledge.

 WORKING CONDITIONS:

Most work is conducted in an indoor controlled environment for optimal machine operation.
