DESCRIPTION

The Tarrytown Music Hall and KJK Productions are holding a virtual open call for adult performers and the role of Annie in their co-produced professional production of Annie. We are not currently seeking submissions for orphans, or from performers who have already submitted or been seen for the role of Annie.

SEEKING

ANNIE — Female identifying, to play 11 years old. Spunky, friendly, big voice. A tough yet charming and streetwise orphan who is independent, hopeful, and wise beyond her years. Acts as a leader/mother figure to the other orphans while yearning for parents of her own. Excellent and accurate singing range, great comedic timing, strong mover. Performers who have already submitted or been seen for this role need not resubmit. Non-AEA only.

OLIVER WARBUCKS — Male identifying to play 40s to early 50s. An extremely successful, wealthy businessman with a gruff exterior hiding a surprisingly warm heart. Blunt and bullish, yet capable of great tenderness, sharp humor, and unexpected vulnerability. Dynamic and charismatic, with comic chops and heart. AEA or non-AEA.

MISS HANNIGAN — Female identifying to play late 30s to mid-40s. Bitter and aggrieved matron of the orphanage, disappointed with her life and circumstances. Hates children, loves booze. Equal parts scary and funny. A physically comedic character who sings and moves well. AEA or non-AEA.

GRACE FARRELL — Female identifying to play late 20s to mid-30s. Warbucks' elegant, charming, and highly capable secretary. An early feminist with brains and beauty to spare. Charismatic with solid comic instincts. AEA or non-AEA.

ROOSTER HANNIGAN — Male identifying to play 20s–30. Miss Hannigan's nefarious younger brother, out for the quick buck and an easy grift. Ruthless, slick con man capable of sinister deeds. Dynamic, with strong dance skills. Non-AEA only.

LILY ST. REGIS — Female identifying to play 20s–30s. Slightly dim, money-hungry girlfriend of Rooster. Avaricious and cunning despite her cultivated "dumb blonde" status. Excellent comedic timing, powerful belt with a strong mix. Non-AEA only.

FDR — Male identifying to play 40s–50s. Doubles as President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and other small ensemble roles. Excellent comedic timing. Bass or Bass-Baritone with a sustained high F. May double as Ensemble. Non-AEA only.

DRAKE — Male identifying to play 40s–60s. Oliver Warbucks' impeccably proper butler and head of the household staff. Dry, reserved, and unfailingly formal, with a wit that surfaces in the smallest arched eyebrow or perfectly timed pause. Strong comedic timing rooted in restraint; solid ensemble mover. Will double as Ensemble. Non-AEA only.

BERT HEALEY — Male identifying to play 30s–50s. The fast-talking, charismatic host of the "Oxydent Hour of Smiles" radio show. A consummate showman with a big, warm voice and the timing of a born pitchman. Excellent comedic timing, strong character voice, and a solid, confident singing voice. Will double as Ensemble. Non-AEA only.

STAR-TO-BE — Female identifying to play 20s–30s. Appears in the NYC street scenes and radio show sequences, embodying the hopeful, hard-luck spirit of a performer chasing her big break during the Depression. Requires excellent vocal ability and stage presence. Will double as Ensemble. Non-AEA only.

ADULT MALE ENSEMBLE — Any age, any ethnicity. Performers of all shapes and sizes to portray the Warbucks household staff, Hooverville residents, New Yorkers, and various featured ensemble tracks. May understudy principal roles. Non-AEA only.

HOW TO SUBMIT

Prepare an initial vocal and acting side from this folder for one character and upload as one video on the form here. Before your sides, please slate your name, union status, current location, height, and confirmation that you are available for in-person callbacks and the entirety of the contract. If unavailable for in-person callbacks, please tape the entire packet. Those interested in ensemble roles and roles that double in the ensemble are strongly encouraged to submit a dance reel.

Submission Deadline: Thursday, September 17
Callbacks (in NYC): Thursday, September 24 (reading and singing appointments between 11am and 3pm, dance callbacks at 3:30pm & 4:15pm if needed)

LOCATION

All rehearsals and performances will be held at the Tarrytown Music Hall (13 Main Street, Tarrytown, NY 10591). The Music Hall is a 40-minute train ride from Grand Central Terminal and a 10-minute walk from the Tarrytown Metro-North Station.

Please note: Housing will not be provided. NYC or tri-state area local performers or those able to arrange their own local housing are highly encouraged to submit.

PAY

- Non-union Ensemble: $350-$550/week
- Non-union Principals: $400-$550/week
- AEA Category 2 Single Engagement Agreements may be explored for select principals
- Round-trip transportation to/from the Tarrytown Metro-North station provided
