Summary

Operate complex and specialized heavy construction equipment and provides on-site first line supervision on more complex roadway projects. May be assigned resources to manage and complete smaller projects given only general direction by the project supervisor.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Acts as direct supervision of specialized road crew.
  • Operates specialized heavy equipment.
  • Works with citizens, vendors and city inspectors.
  • Trains fellow employees in the operation of heavy equipment.
  • Ensures safety of worksite for operators and the traveling public.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent ANDfour (4) full-time years of related experience ~OR~
  • Eight (8) full-time years of related experience may substitute for a high school diploma/GED.
  • A Class A CDL is required upon hire, and a tanker endorsement is required within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Must have the ability to lead a construction crew, thorough knowledge of road construction and specialized operations.
  • Must have the ability to organize, plan, and make decisions.

Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, stoop, lift, push and pull.
