The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the for the Tarkett North American Accounting Shared Service Organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. This role plays a key part in the month-end close process, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the for the Tarkett North American Accounting Shared Service Organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. This role plays a key part in the month-end close process, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with completion of the month-end close processes including consolidation and maintenance of closing files, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and support schedules
- Execute intercompany billing processes and ensure timely and accurate transactions
- Perform intercompany AP/AR balance reconciliations to support financial reporting accuracy
- Monitor SAP for intercompany processing errors and coordinate resolution efforts
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Review credit card transactions for proper account coding and compliance with internal control policies
- Analyze financial data and investigate variances
- Support financial statement preparation and reporting
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (AP, AR, FP&A, IT)
- Assist with audits by providing required documentation and support
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation
- Prepare ad hoc reports and financial analyses as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience (public or corporate)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis)
- Experience with reconciliation tools (e.g., BlackLine) preferred
- CPA or CPA candidate is a plus
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Attention to detail, organized and thorough with desire for continuous improvement
- Exhibits high level of curiosity to develop understanding of the business
- Typically operates in a professional office or hybrid environment
- May require extended hours during close cycles or audits
