Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Plater. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing chrome plating processes to coat metal products, ensuring high-quality finishes and adherence to safety and environmental regulations. The Plater will work closely with the production team to meet manufacturing targets while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chrome Plating: Apply chrome plating to metal products through electroplating processes, ensuring a smooth, durable, and high-quality finish.
- Quality Control: Inspect plated items to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards. Troubleshoot and rectify any plating defects, such as pitting, poor adhesion, or uneven coating.
- Preparation of Materials: Clean and prepare surfaces of metals to be plated, including polishing, sandblasting, or chemically treating components to ensure proper adhesion of the chrome finish.
- Machine Operation: Operate and maintain chrome plating equipment, including electroplating baths, anodes, and power supplies, ensuring they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Use appropriate protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Maintenance: Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of plating equipment and baths. Report any equipment malfunctions or needed repairs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of plating processes, including material usage, production rates, and quality control checks. Ensure proper documentation of plating batches for traceability.
- Environmental Responsibility: Comply with environmental guidelines for waste disposal, chemical handling, and water treatment processes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as Quality Control and Production, to meet production goals and customer specifications.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Prior experience in chrome plating or metal finishing is preferred, but not required. On-the-job training may be provided.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with electroplating processes and equipment is a plus. Basic knowledge of metal types and plating characteristics.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to identify defects in finished products and perform corrective actions to meet quality standards.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy items and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to work with chemicals and in a controlled industrial environment.
- Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to safety and compliance with health and environmental regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training in industrial plating or metal finishing is a plus.
- Certification in plating technology or similar field is a bonus.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
Work Environment:
- Physical Demands: Requires the ability to handle equipment, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a standing position for extended periods.
- Work Schedule: Full-time, with potential overtime during peak production periods.
