Targeted HR Consulting is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support our client’s heavy civil construction operations in the Columbia, South Carolina region. This role is ideal for a results-driven leader who excels at delivering complex civil projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
This position oversees projects from initiation through closeout, managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and field operations to ensure high-quality execution. The Project Manager will collaborate closely with superintendents, foremen, field teams, and client stakeholders to drive project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage all phases of heavy civil construction projects, including scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and quality control.
- Build strong working relationships with field leadership to create a collaborative, productive team environment.
- Review construction plans, conduct site inspections, and ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee subcontractor selection, contract reviews, procurement activities, and bid evaluations.
- Manage project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, permits, drawings, and monthly invoicing.
- Track progress against key performance indicators (KPIs), maintain updated schedules, and provide weekly and monthly status reports.
- Maintain accurate project records through the client’s digital project management systems (Office 365, SharePoint, MS Project).
- Support business development, hiring, and compliance activities as needed.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience managing heavy civil construction projects.
- Strong understanding of project budgeting, scheduling, cost control, and risk management.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Office 365, and SharePoint.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction specifications.
- Strong communication, leadership, and team-building abilities.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and manage physically demanding site visits.
- Authorized to work in the US without work visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications such as PMP, EIT, PE, MSHA, or OSHA.
- Minimum of 3 years’ project management experience with a history of delivering projects on time and within budget.
