Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Optometrist role based in Rockford, IL. The Optometrist provides comprehensive eye examinations, including refractions, ocular health assessments, and contact lens evaluations, in accordance with professional and regulatory standards. This role involves diagnosing and managing vision conditions, detecting ocular disease, and co-managing care with other healthcare professionals when needed. The Optometrist educates patients on eye health, lens options, and preventive care, ensuring clear communication and a positive experience. In partnership with the optical team, the Optometrist supports seamless patient flow, accurate documentation, and adherence to clinical protocols, while contributing to practice growth and community outreach.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited institution and current, unrestricted optometry license (or eligibility) in the state of Illinois.
- Clinical expertise in comprehensive eye exams, refraction, contact lens fitting, and diagnosis and management of common ocular conditions.
- Strong patient-centered communication skills, with the ability to explain clinical findings and treatment plans in clear, accessible language.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with optical staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
- Comfort using electronic health records and diagnostic equipment; strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical practice, regulatory compliance, and maintaining patient privacy and safety standards.
- Motivation to contribute to practice growth through excellent service, community engagement, and support of Target Optical’s brand standards.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings and weekends, based on guest and practice needs.
- Prior retail or high-volume clinical experience is beneficial but not required; new graduates are welcome to apply.
