What Your Day Will Look Like

As a Roadway Design Engineer, you’ll support transportation improvement projects with the design and detailing of local, county, and state roadway and highway projects. You’ll assist with geometric analyses and calculations using established design criteria and standard software. The roadway design engineer reports to the project manager. This role will be remote, supporting high-profile projects thoughout the region and the country, which will include Design/Build and other Alternative Delivery methods.

What You'll Do

  • The development of typical sections, alignments, profiles, layouts, and cross-sections.
  • Work with the design team in development of design documentation, plans, and reports for specific tasks and quantity calculations.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes and engineering practices.
  • Perform engineering calculations and estimates.
  • Collect and process data for topographic surveys and right-of-way engineering for use in design analysis.
  • Help junior engineers as a mentor to the design process, providing leadership in design tasks and oversight of quality for the projects.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum four years of transportation engineering (Highway/Roadway specific design) experience. (experience working in Georgia with GDOT Standards is a plus)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license. (GA License is a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microstation, Open Roads Designer software is necessary.
  • This remote job operates between an office environment that you will need to cultivate in your own location and will requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers and phones. There may be some travel to the primary location for the work.
  • While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee include frequent sitting, moving, standing, talking, hearing, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling. This job may occasionally require operating a company vehicle, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs.
