Position Summary
The HMI UI/UX Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining the design style and consistency for our HMI systems. The goal is to present professional and intuitive user experience for all personnel using Targan products. This position will work on designs for new equipment as well as working with stakeholders for existing products to implement continuous improvement and features.

Work is performed inside a flex space building consisting of offices, open desk space, laboratory, machine shop, and a manufacturing floor. Level of noise is usually quiet in the office environment and temperature controlled. Noise levels are elevated in the warehouse space where temperatures can vary depending on the outside elements and weather.

Key Job Responsibilities
- Have ownership of the design direction, style guidelines, and color schemes for Targan HMI products
- Work as a team with the HMI developers to design and follow through on new designs and updates
- Take feedback, update requests, and lead the design and implementation of the requests while working with the controls, product management, and HMI team members
- Perform QA tests on new and existing designs to identify deficiencies and provide remediation steps to address issues
- Work with user drawing tools and different graphical formats such as png and svg.
- Identify and develop layouts for different HMI screens that provide clear understanding of the machine operation
- Work directly with the controls and data engineers to collaborate on new features and integration with the different systems
- Bring new concepts and designs to the engineering teams on improvements, new technology, and novel concepts
- Work with documentation team to provide updated screen information and images to maintain updated machine documentation
- Assist with language translations to ensure that font size and readability are maintained.
- Understanding design concepts and when different UI elements should be used to convey information in the best way
- Graphic design experience around UI/UX development and high-quality design with colors, icons, and layout
- Creating storyboards and concepts using tools such as Figma and Sketch
- Use of graphical tools to create images and icons
- Responsive design concepts with HTML5 webpages
- Working with HMI design software to test new concepts, features, and understanding of the features and limitations of the software and hardware so that the best design decisions can be made
- Experience working in a collaborative environment using DevOps and GIT
- Experience working with Industrial Machinery and the different hardware and networks that operate in the machine
- Ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in field applicable to HMI and UI/UX design.
- Candidates with a more extensive software education and experience could qualify for an HMI Software Engineer position commensurate with their background.
- Candidates with associate degrees, or no degree will be considered based on experience.
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in HMI design or similar user interface design.
- In lieu of experience, candidates showing examples of previous projects to demonstrate quality of work will be considered.
