POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of the Mechanical Integrity Supervisor (MIS) is to provide supervision and leadership to MI (Mechanical Integrity) Inspectors, Analysts, Project Managers and Specialists in execution of Targa’s MI program. Provide support and technical guidance and lead development in areas of Mechanical Integrity (MI) to better ensure overall facility safety, compliance, and equipment reliability. This includes support, development, improvement, and interpretation of the corporate MI program and its initiatives, practices, policies, and procedures. The Mechanical Integrity Supervisor will also participate and support internal/external MI related audits, risk surveys, PHAs. The MIS shall be responsible for providing SME support for areas of expertise such as MI related codes and regulations, equipment defects, and repairs. Performs program evaluations to support projects and operations. Proactively solves problems, leads continuous improvement, and communicates difficulties and remediations to team, peers and leadership.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, guide, supervise, train, and develop direct report employees (Inspectors, Analysts, Project Managers and Specialists) in their assigned duties in execution of Targa’s MI Program.
  • Manage assigned team including staffing, planning, timecard approvals, PTO/coverage scheduling and approval, budgeting/expenses, goal setting/monitoring, employee hiring and retention, performance reviews, coaching and development, counseling, and corrective action plans.
  • Champion developing, improving, and implementing inspection programs to maximize the on-stream time of major equipment.
  • Lead in the development & execution of Mechanical Integrity and Reliability programs.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, supervision, training, and development to a team of Inspectors, Analysts, Project Managers and Specialists in execution of Targa’s MI Program.
  • Direct daily, weekly, and monthly priorities in support of executing Targa’s MI Program ensuring that all assignments are completed safely, timely, and accurately.
  • Liaison to Operations, Technical Services, Engineering, and EHS groups in consideration of changes that will Mechanical Integrity and reliability
  • Ability to lead and coach others to enhance the performance effectiveness of day-to-day inspection activities in a multifunctional organization.
  • Build and maintain strong collaboration and working relationships with peers and other departments to achieve results, including Maintenance, I&E, measurement, Engineering/Construction, Commercial, ES&H, and PSM.
  • Participate and support internal/external MI related audits, risk surveys, PHAs.
  • Provide SME support and guidance to Operations, Engineering direct employees in associated MI program matters.
  • Assist with root cause failure analysis studies to determine failure modes.
  • Assist with degradation mechanism identification and analysis as part of routine inspection recommendations and developing RBI programs.
  • Maintain and communicate current code, regulatory requirements, and RAGEGEP pertaining MI.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Properly use and complete company job-related forms and paperwork.
  • Support Engineering with engineering designs, drawings and specifications for materials, fabrication, and NDE content.
  • Willing and able to assist in the company’s cathodic protection standards and work procedures.
  • Communicate and deal with vendors and other parties in such a manner as to benefit the professional reputation of the company.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate inspection results.
  • Ability to support, develop and improve the mechanical integrity inspection program.
  • Support development of corporate MI policies, guidelines, procedures and training.
  • Be an advocate and influencer for MI cultural development.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution on future projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company
  • 7 years of industry related experience.
  • Ability to work autonomously following direction, policies, or procedures. Ability to use analytical and decision-making skills to recommend options and resolve problems in a variety of contexts.
  • Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating (in communications with others including company employees and contract workers).
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
  • Strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to act as a resource for providing customer service in a courteous manner and work effectively with diverse groups of people at various levels within an organization.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Experience working with Integrity Data Management Systems (IDMS).
  • Technically competent with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, leading others; collaborative environment is essential.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree
  • Willing to work overtime.
  • Organizational skills sufficient to prioritize work and complete assignments accurately, either independently or as part of a team, under the pressure of completing deadlines with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to read P&IDs efficiently. Ability to read and develop isometric drawings of both piping systems and pressure vessels.
  • Possess or acquire the certification to operate a man lift and or jig lift
  • Working knowledge of pipeline and plant and industry codes & standards, including OSHA 1910.119, ASME Sct VIII, ASME B31.3/8 and API 510/570
  • Ability to perform audits on ASME Sect. IX and API 1104 welding procedures from vendors

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel up to 25%
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
