Tarbiyah Academy is a K-8 Islamic private school located in Elkridge, Maryland, which opened its doors in 2015. The school features the student-centered, inquiry-based International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years' Program (PYP) and Middle Years’ Program (MYP). Tarbiyah Academy aims to build the next generation of Muslim thought leaders by nurturing a strong academic foundation and Islamic values in its students.
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and collaborative Learning Specialist and Instructional Coach to support diverse learners across our K–8 program. This role is ideal for an educator who believes deeply in inclusive education, student dignity, and the power of partnership between teachers, families, and specialists.
Our Learning Specialist and Instructional Coach plays a critical role in ensuring that all students—particularly those with learning differences—are supported to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within a rigorous, nurturing, and faith-centered learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support & Instruction
- Provide targeted, small-group and individual academic support for students with identified learning needs
- Design and implement evidence-based interventions aligned with students’ learning profiles
- Monitor student progress and adjust supports using data and observation
Collaboration & Consultation
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Partner with administrators, counselors, and external service providers as appropriate
- Participate in student support meetings and collaborative planning
Learning Plans & Documentation
- Develop, implement, and monitor learning plans (e.g., SSPs, accommodations, intervention plans)
- Maintain clear and organized documentation of student supports and progress
- Support teachers in implementing accommodations and strategies with fidelity
Family Partnership
- Communicate regularly and thoughtfully with families regarding student progress and strategies
- Participate in parent meetings and conferences as needed
Schoolwide Support
- Contribute to building a school culture that values neurodiversity, belonging, and student advocacy
- Support professional learning around differentiation, learning differences, and inclusive practices
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Learning Support, Education, or a related field
- Experience supporting students with learning differences (e.g., dyslexia, ADHD, executive functioning challenges)
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and intervention strategies
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
- Experience in independent schools and/or IB-inspired learning environments
- Familiarity with MTSS or response-to-intervention frameworks
- Experience working in faith-based or culturally responsive school settings
Compensation & Benefits
