Job Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for making any or all necessary repairs or adjustments to keep production equipment running at the safest and highest efficiency. Communication and report of deficient conditions needs to be updated to Maintenance Management and Production Supervisors.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Responsible for ensuring that all machinery and equipment will be repaired and maintained to allow for the maximum amount of production time.
- Work in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
- Assistance to workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
- Performance of tasks in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
- Requisition and supply of spare parts in accordance with the guidelines set by management.
- Knowledge of production schedules and assurance that repair/maintenance is performed in order to allow the maximum amount of productive machine time usage.
- Strict compliance with safety regulations and assurance that all non-maintenance employees are not at risk in work zone.
- Establishment or adjustment of work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Demonstration of initiative in recommendation(s) of measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Demonstration of knowledge of equipment capabilities that allow for recommendations for changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
- Analysis and resolution of work problems, and assistance to workers in solving work problems.
- Maintenance of time and production records.
- Performance of all activities of work assigned to the satisfaction of Maintenance Manager and other top management.
- Knowledge and assistance in Lock Out/ Tag Out procedure.
Qualifications
Education:
- Required: High School or Equivalent
- Preferred: Technical School or College
Experience Required:
- Experience in the plastics industry.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of products and processes needed.
- Strong industrial electrical controls experience in blown film (co)extrusion & converting fields, including but not limited to, AC/DC Drives, programming/troubleshooting/installation / retrofitting.
- Experience in troubleshooting PLC and automation control systems.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. (Experience with German electrical & mechanical is a plus).
- Strong mechanical and analytical aptitude.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
